Step by step, for the desktop, mobile and web apps.
- Enter observations in the desktop app Observations are added by creating entries in your journal.
- Add photos Photos of your experiences & observations can be added to Bird Journal using the desktop apps.
- Filter records in the desktop app The filter bar hides and shows as you scroll up and down, allowing you to see as much of your content as possible, while still allowing fast access to filters.
- Create a checklist Bird Journal has two related concepts; taxonomies and checklists.
- Delete a location on the mobile app Provided a location is not in use, it can be deleted.
- Delete an observation on the mobile app To remove an individual species from an entry, first navigate to the entry in question and tap the edit button.
- Import If you already have records in a digital format, they can usually be imported to Bird Journal, avoiding the effort of typing them out again.
- Import from AviSys Bird Journal has direct support for importing AviSys records.
- Export You can export records using the desktop app.
- Export from Wildlife Recorder First, make sure you've updated your taxonomy in Wildlife Recorder to the latest versions.
- Export from eBird To export your records from the eBird website first login to your eBird account and open the My eBird screen.
- Export from BirdTrack Open BirdTrack and log in to your account.
- Taxonomy updates Installing updates Taxonomy updates are made available via the Bird Journal library, as are updates to checklists & synonym packs.
- Backup from the desktop app Changes you make in Bird Journal are synced to our systems as you make them.
